Garden Consultations
-
A Consultation
This offers a garden visit and a brief survey, with a discussion based around the 12 elements of a wildlife garden.
Following this you will recieve a write up suggesting improvements to any of the existing element and any suggestions for elements to add to improve your space and attract wildlife.
From here you can either implement the ideas yourself, or discuss having them carried out by Sam’s Sanctuary.
-
A Garden Plan
On top of the basic consultation I will also survey the garden further to create a scaled drawn plan for you, along with a write up.
This will include ideas for the 12 elements of a wildlife garden, plus any elements that you would like included on top, e.g a seating area etc.
Once you recieve this you can decide if you’d like to implement things yourself, or to get a quote for the work to be carried out over time.
-
Certify It
Following on from from either consultation I offer the opportunity to certify your garden as an official wildlife friendly space.
Add all 12 elements (or improve) and your garden can be certified by Sam’s Sanctuary, showing your dedication to wildlife and recieve a wooden plaque.
You’ll also recieve a feature post on my social media pages with an option to add an organic certified wildlife gardener t-shirt/hoodie.
Habitat’s and Landscaping

Wildlife Garden Elements
Habitat creation forms a large part of my garden builds. I offer a service where I implement each of the important elements, from wildlife ponds right though to hedging.
Once you start seeing more wildlife in your garden it feels so rewarding, and it is a great way to inspire those around you to make a difference.
For a free quote simply contact me with the details, or book in a consultation if you want help figuring out a plan first.

Our Garden Elements
The second focus and just as important… are the element’s we desire. What good is a beautiful garden without a nice seating area to appreciate it from?
I offer other aspects of landscaping too, from seating areas to paths. Its just about avoiding certain materials and not taking away too much natural habitat.
For a free quote, again contact me with the details, or book in a consultation if you want help planning out the specifics first.

Wildlife Friendly
Wildlife friendly maintenance means that we manage our spaces with as little disruption as possible to our local wildlife. Here are some examples.
- Leave seedheads in place over winter (food source)
- Hedgecutting outside of nesting season (March-September)
- Keep woody hollow stems until spring (shelter through winter)
- Keep leaves in the garden (shelter through winter)
- Allow a few untouched ‘wild areas’
Always think ‘does doing this take away from wildlife right now?’
-
Be Organic
Choose to be organic and you’ll see your garden in a whole new way. Chemicals for example have a negative affect on wildlife and our health too.
There are always alternative options to herbicides, pesticides and fungicides.
- A bit of hard work weeding (more thorough and affective)
- Use preventative measures e.g mulches like leaves from the garden
- Re-define what you consider a weed, there is no set list
We can all make our lives a bit easier by adjusting our expectations and our outlook of how a garden should be.

Machinery and Tools
Petrol tools can have a negative impact to both the natural world, as well as our health. Where possible I use powerful 82v battery powered tools. I really rate them.
My setup includes:
-Hedgecutters
- Mower
- Chainsaw
- Polesaw
- Brush cutter
- An earth auger.
Some of the benefits include avoiding fumes, nice and quiet to be around and a bit less maintenance required.
